After two amazing weeks in Scotland, I've returned to the US to start my internship in New York. It's been a whirlwind of a few days, and I can't believe it's time to start my 10 weeks in the Big Apple. To say that I'm ready would be a lie. I am very nervous about living in a city that big, navigating it on my own, and meeting new people while there. I also can't stop thinking about the incredible time I had with Fraser. We did so much, and it was so great to be with him 24/7 again. I can't wait to go back and to see him again. To make more wonderful memories and enjoy life together for a change rather than apart. These weeks in New York will go by quickly, or so I hope, and then he and I can be together again.
I guess, as always, the thought of unknowning gnaws at me. Every time I do something new I'm afraid of not knowing what will happen while I'm there. I know this is a great opportunity, once in a lifetime, probably, but I still let fear dominate my thoughts and feelings.
My mom will be there with me this weekend til after I finish work on Monday, so makes the task of settling in a little less daunting. My aunt is also visiting Thursday through the following Wednesday, so she can help me get acclimated and adjusted, as well as see how my first days on the job are going. Everything is happening so fast. I am anxious and nervous for it all. 10 weeks. I can live in NYC for 10 weeks. Each weekend I'll count down, and then at the end of it I'll have good memories, a great experience under my belt, and grad school in Scotland to look forward to.
10 weeks. The countdown starts now.
