First order of business: I was accepted to Edinburgh Napier University for grad school next fall! I am very excited about that - relieved and excited. I'm actually going back to Scotland - for a whole year this time! :) It's going to be awesome. I can't wait. :D

Now, the real reason I decided to write today...
For instance, today - just a few minutes ago, actually - I was getting lunch at a cafe inside the school library. I arrived behind a group of girls, one of whom I knew from having class with her that semester. They were all ordering together. After they had ordered the woman behind the cash register turned her back and rested against the counter, clearly not seeing me. I waited, thinking she had to ask something to one of the other people working with her, but she didn't turn around.
I knew I had to do something, but I thought: Maybe if I'm patient she'll notice me. I tried moving around to catch the corner of her eye.
Still nothing.
Suddenly, one of the people behind the counter pointed in the direction to my left. There, a guy was coming up to supposedly order. I decided then to make my presence known. No way was I going to let him cut in front of me. "Excuse me," I said in a voice I hope conveyed my annoyance. "Are you taking orders?"
Her eyes met mine. "Oh," she said. "I didn't see you."
No sorry. Just "Oh." How nice.
Sometimes I think there should be a visibility cloak. You know, the opposite of the Harry Potter cape, one that makes you visible to people. Of course, then I couldn't file through crowds as well as I do...I probably would be taller, which I'm not sure I'd enjoy. But, on the other hand, it is nice to be noticed every so often.
