Eleven-Day Stretch

After an amazing weekend visiting friends at SNC, I am in the final stretch before venturing abroad...

It's hard to believe there are only eleven days until I leave!  The wait is on.  I haven't begun packing, although I have done a fair amount of shopping for warm clothes (thank you Australia for teaching me how cold 45˚F can be!), and I am getting oriented with schedules, payments for food (Woo, cafe food, Scotland-style), and Facebooking various other study abroad students.  Most students I have heard from are staying in the Residence Halls, although one person will be in the cottages with me (though not in my same flat).  I wish we could know who our flatmates were before we got to the university, but I guess that is half the fun of studying in a different country - where is the adventure if there is no mystery?

On another note, I am still looking for a choir to join while in Scotland.  I found a website for one, but unfortunately, the site hasn't been updated since last year.  I am not sure if the choir still exists, but if it does, I hope to join it!  Music has been such an integral part of my life.  I would hate to abandon it for an entire semester.

I can't believe summer is really coming to a close.  I think part of me is still denying the fact I am actually flying across a body of water to another country for four months in only eleven days.

I've been reading blogs of my friends who are already abroad.  Life has been going pretty well for them, overall.  Of course, there have been a few downfalls every now and then, but mostly there are good reports.  I hope I have that same experience.

I guess what I hate now more than anything is that I have to wait to get there.  After this coming weekend, most of my friends will be in school, while I'll have a week yet to bum around at home.  I know it will go by quickly, but I am quite impatient.  I want to learn something, to travel in a different country, and to just get acclimated to a new situation, a new university, new people.  Though, overall, I hope to make friends with people I feel comfortable around.

Oh, the craziness of life.  So many things to think about...

Hey Kris, hope your journey goes well. I love you. I have a hard time thinking I'm not going to see you for 4 months, too. It seems really unfathomable... Hopefully you will be able to access the internet and webchat with me and Adam or just me or email or whatever while you're there. That'll be good. :)

Love you!
