This morning I woke up with three things on my mind.
1. The parcel underneath my bed that contained an anniversary present from Fraser
2. The sinking feeling that I hadn't studied well enough for my test today.
3. Knowing I could apply to Stirling and Napier today.
Well, I couldn't resist the urge to open the parcel, so I reached under my bed, picked it up, and opened it. There inside held a card with "Princess" carefully written in Fraser's hand and a small black bag. I recognized the bag as the same one that hold earrings Fraser bought me from a shop in St. Andrews we had visited in March. I couldn't stop smiling. I read the card first. It was very cute. The front was pink with gold hearts and read "You're GORGEOUS." The inside said "happy anniversary" and around it Fraser had written a message. I couldn't help smiling as the thought of "Wow, we've been together for a whole year" crossed my mind, not for the first time that morning. I then looked at the black bag, loosened the drawstring around the front, and poured out the contents into the palm of my hand. A pair of gorgeous earrings glinted up at me. They were small, and definitely my style. Two clear stones sandwiched one white stone and dangled from the hook that held them together. They were perfect!
Since I am one of those people who likes to coordinate earrings with outfits, I immediately decided what I would wear that day to correspond with the earrings: the same outfit I wore one year ago when Fraser and I went to Loch Lomond on our "sightseeing" adventure, the day I also met his mother and brothers and had dinner at a great restaurant in Glasgow: a long-sleeved white shirt underneath a warm white fleece hoodie and jeans. That is definitely a day I will never forget. The whole whirlwind of a semester raced through my head today as I was walking to and from campus. I couldn't help it. One whole year of memories with an absolutely amazing man....Who wouldn't want to think about it?
After clambering out of bed I started up my computer, intent on writing Fraser a series of wall-posts on Facebook and also submitting my grad school application to Stirling and Napier. I did these things...though, to my disappointment, the Stirling website changed their application release date from October 1 to November 1. :( Now I have to wait a whole month longer to apply there. But, on the up side, I did submit my application to Napier! That was both exciting and terrifying, but I did it, and now I have to wait to hear back from them...I emailed the Uni asking if they could help me with a section dealing with finances, and they got back to me this morning, so I was able to correctly fill out that part, at least. I just hope I filled out the rest of it correctly. There are so many worries with this application process, but now that part is over so it's out of my hands...
I also started my application to Emerson College in Boston. That one seems similar but also more straightforward. That's probably because I'm not from a foreign country applying there and have a better understanding of the application process in the States. Still...I am really hoping that I get into Napier, since I have my heart set on being in Scotland on year from now for grad school. It's so close I can almost taste it! I just wish I didn't have to wait so long to hear back...We'll see, though. This weekend I hope to get the application to Emerson sent off as well as an application for a summer internship in Washington D.C. mailed for consideration.
The internship is sponsored through an English honor society on campus. It is at Regnery Publishing, Inc. - a right-wing publishing company - but the opportunity, if I were to be accepted, could be very beneficial and eye-opening. I really hope to get it, since a. it's at a publishing company, b. it's paid, and c. it's for six weeks. We'll see what happens. All I can do is apply and wait - story of my life right now, it seems.
My test later today went better than I thought. I guess I had studied well enough, and so it wasn't so nerve-wracking as I anticipated. Still, it took up a majority of my hour and ten minute class period, but I was still able to get out earlier than usual. Now, tonight's study session has to be much more productive. I have a cumulative test on chapters 1-8 of my business and professional speaking class - AH! Well, at least I've made a study guide and am now attempting to memorize the material. Here's hoping for the best!
It's weird to think a year from now Fraser and I could actually properly be together. I wish we could have spent today together, but it was nice to talk to him for a little while and also to have a little present to think of him all day long. Well, truthfully he's all I think about every second of the day, but...you know what I mean. Knowing that there is a good chance we could be together one year from now celebrating two years of our relationship just sounds so amazing. It would be incredible, and I really hope that life will lead us in that direction and enable us to be together next year to forever.
Overall, it's been a good day. I'm happy with life, having Fraser in it, going through the motions of school, and gearing up for the future. :)

It's for Regnery Publishing, a right-wing book publisher, apparently!, but the internships are supposed to be good. It's sponsored through Sigma Tau Delta, an English Honor Society. It would be for 6 weeks if I were to get it, so that would be awesome...I'll let you know how it goes! Sending in my application soon.
