Five Weeks to Go

Well, it has not yet set in that in five short weeks I will be flying to a new country for the duration of my fall semester.  Nor has it really sunk in that I won't be back at SNC with my other friends.
Summer has been so good to me so far.  I only hope the four month stay in Scotland will also provide me with such amazing opportunities and memories.
As of right now, I only know where I will be living and that I am enrolled in the university system as a student.  I don't know which classes I will be taking or any of my roommates.  I hope to find out at least which classes I will be taking some time this month.
I guess I am trying not to think about the upcoming semester mainly because I have a mix of emotions about the idea.  For the most part, I feel excited, but there is a part of me that already misses my friends and hopes more than anything to make new ones soon after arrival at the university.  I hope for a smooth flight there, a relatively painless move in, and a nice assimilation into the university lifestyle.  We will have to see, though...
I'm not afraid of being in a different country.  I found out this summer with all my travels that I enjoy exploring other countries and meeting new people.  I am more afraid of losing contact with people I'm close to and of being away from the people I care about for so long.  Oh well, a lot of people have gone before me and have survived and come back with so many wonderful stories; chances are I will have similar experiences...

You will be fine when you leave, in regards to friends. From my experience (leaving friends to go far away for school,) your really good friends will always be your really good friends, and maybe aside from intial 5 minute akwardness, you will always fall right back into the great relationships you've had with them.

So good luck man, but don't worry about the people here, this trip is about you, and everyone can hold their panties until they see you again lol.
